Delicate and defying, Gill weather (formerly Oceanographer) is a love letter to 90’s dream pop, small town origins, and bittersweet memories. Their lush folk soundscape is steeped in sharp and poignant storytelling, welcoming listeners into a “midwest gothic” dreamworld— one where the pink sunset is eclipsed by power lines and fast-food signs, teenagers honeymoon in the football field across the creek, and unrequited love becomes a dead-end job and a baby on the way. Mothered by primary lyricist and frontperson, valentine Lowry-Ortega, Gill Weather is the amalgamation of what it means to be from a place you’ve always wanted to escape.
