After well over a decade of performing around the Twin Cities and Midwest in general, Laura Hugo celebrates the release of her debut 5-song EP, Where We Go to Grieve. It will be an evening centered around a collection of heart songs that move through grief in its many forms, and the search for space to feel it all. Local legends Eldest Daughter and Jillian Rae will open the night with special solo and duo performances and Laura will close out the evening with her band more special guests. This is more than a release show; it’s a celebration of the community that has supported and carried this music to this moment. Laura Hugo is a Diné (Navajo) singer-songwriter originally from Teec Nos Pos, Arizona, who is currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has carved out a distinct space in the Midwest music scene over the past 15 or so years with her emotionally raw, heart-wrenching, and vulnerable approach to songwriting. Jillian Rae is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose genre-blending sound combines pop, rock, folk, and classical influences. A classically trained violinist, she fronts her own critically acclaimed band and performs with many notable groups. She’s accomplished producer, session musician, and music educator known for her powerful vocals, dynamic violin playing, and fearless songwriting. Eldest Daughter is a Twin Cities-based indie rock band founded in 2023 by frontwoman and lead vocalist Monica Merila.
