Cassandra is a singer/songwriter and self taught guitarist who found her way to St. Paul from the prairies of Western North Dakota. She has blended her influences of indie, jazz, country-folk, and soul into a cohesive sound all her own. She elevates her moving melodies and autobiographical lyrics with rich guitar arrangements so that every song feels like a little world unto itself. Cassandra also plays lead guitar in local band, Astronomy Town.

Simple Motions is a St. Cloud, Minnesota–based indie rock band crafting melodic, catchy, and jangly songs that blend modern indie sensibilities with a vivid streak of eighties nostalgia. Our music has been described as cinematic, something that comes from Avdem’s background as a frustrated filmmaker. After one of our shows, someone actually told us our music sounds like a “1980s John Hughes movie,” and honestly, we’ll take that. Even with our slacker-leaning influences, we’re always writing, always recording, always finding new ways to shape what Simple Motions is becoming. At the end of the day, we’re just fans of music making music—DIY, Minnesota-born, and constantly creating.
